“Where Wonders Never Cease”
The Museum of Science & History (MOSH) inspires the joy of lifelong learning by bringing to life the sciences and regional history. The Museum of Science & History is a 501 (c)(3) Organization. The museum is sustained through support from private individuals, foundations, corporations and grants
The museum is huge and has quite a few interesting, permanent exhibits. The Florida marine mammal area is always neat, as well as the walk through, interactive human body exhibit. The native wildlife enclosure is a small, but impressive way to get (really) close to native owls and snakes and others. There is planetarium which is awesome if you can catch an actual astronomical show. I personally don't enjoy the laser shows or other educational movies shown on the dome, but that's a personal preference. This museum really shines when it's hosting temporary exhibits like Dinosaurs Among Us or the Megalodon exhibit, otherwise it can get a bit stale if you frequent it regularly.
If you start to get a bit bored: DO NOT MISS AN INTERACTIVE SCIENCE SHOW! They're fun, interesting and a good way to appease lagging children (or adults).
I do wish that there was more in the way of science and technology here, with all the recent emphasis on STEM education and the need for new people in those fields, children would really enjoy early exposure to the things that create interest and awe in those areas.
We've gone to Mosh since we were kids. Lots of fun.
Been many times over the years. Great place to take the kids and love taking lunch to eat out by Friendship fountain.
