“know where your food comes from”
For me it's important to know the values and practices of the people we buy our food from. Caring for the planet, my community and my health are decisions I consciously make. I try to eat well because I just feel better. Knowing where my food comes from matters to me. Long before it became a trend in our society to eat locally (for so many cultures this was and remains their only choice, lucky them) I found that shopping at the Farmers Markets made the food I was cooking taste much better. Here at Food Dance, we’ve found the same rings true. I know it makes it more challenging for our chefs to prep all this fresh food and our wait staff to remember all the seasonal changes that show up on our menus, but they taste the difference so they feel it is worth it. We hope you feel the same way. There is the age-old adage that you are what you eat. If those words hold even a little truth, then surely it’s time to take a closer look at what we’re putting on our plates. This is more than our work – it’s a bit of an obsession. We’re fixated on finding honest-to-goodness fruits, vegetables, meat and eggs that come from the farm, not the factory. All this brought together to build a menu of thoughtfully constructed great tasting American food.To you it may be a unique and natural alternative to today’s chain invasion – to us it’s like changing the world – one meal at a time. The Food Dance Market stocks freshly made baked goods daily, including small versions of some of our restaurant desserts, like our signature Cat’s Meow or Key Lime Tart. For beautiful handmade special occasion cakes, call us 48 hours ahead at 382-1888 and we’ll get started baking for you. We are VERY excited to offer sustainable, humanely raised meats such as housemade sausages, cured meats, fresh ground beef, beef cuts, pork cuts and more (our very own little butcher shop)... our breads and savory baked goods, along with the same great pastries from our talented bakers. In addition we are offering more of our prized ingredients: olive oil, Anson Mill’s polenta, vinegars, condiments, fresh ground spices and pastas. Of course you know the wine selection and local beers will still be a part of it, too. Of course our friendly market staff will be available to take all of your carryout orders, help you put together American cheese and meat boards, or help you find the perfect gift for all the foodies in your life. We are looking forward to all the great new options we’ll be able to offer. Stop in to check out our new digs!
Food Dance is by far my favorite restaurant. Not only are you eating locally but the chefs here create amazing dishes from the appetizers to entrees to deserts to drinks. The menu changes seasonally so you always have the option to try something new. Their Mac n Cheese is so deliciously rich and yummy it is a must have. They always come up with unique bruschetta and other appetizers. My favorite dish so far has been an Alaskan salmon salad, but do love their burgers and lamb dishes as well. Heads up though as it is easy to ring up a big bill here(food isn't necessarily cheap), but let me tell you it is worth it! They have a parking lot across the street and one in the back with an entrance through their little deli.
