“fancied fine miniatures”
Mary Harris Francis collected toys. Barbara Hall Marshall fancied fine miniatures. These two women’s distinctly different collections are the backbone of Kansas City’s Toy & Miniature Museum. All year round, its 33,000 square feet of displays lure the young and young at heart. Sometimes the museum finds special ways to celebrate a child’s imagination and the spirit of play.
We had a great time here! There were activities for the kids to do (make a paper doll), and I loved the decades exhibit where I could show them the toys I used to play with. It's probably not going to be a hit for the under 5 kids because there aren't many hands-on exhibits.
Museum will not be open until August 1, 2015.
