“soak in the beauty of northern missouri”
The cool waters of Forest Lake provide the centerpiece for Thousand Hills State Park, whose woody shores and broad savannas recall a time when northern Missouri was far less developed. The lake offers fishing, swimming and boating. The park offers hiking, mountain biking, and abundant opportunities to see wildlife. An interpretive shelter helps visitors understand the petroglyphs left behind by the area’s inhabitants more than 1,500 years ago. The park also offers campsites and cabins for overnight stays. Absolutely gorgeous place to hike, fish, boat, meditate, relax, picnic, enjoy life, and have a good time. The park is beautiful all year, and it is a favorite of locals for getting in touch with nature. The park also boasts ancient petroglyphs that are open to viewing to the public. Thousand Hills offers seven modern duplex cabins with fourteen total units available for rent. The cabins are open from February 1st - December 20th (call for winter availability).
Holy moly, talk about an amazingly beautiful park. I was only passing through, but I cannot wait to go back. The park was gorgeous, they had great trails, and cabins right on the water. The girl working at the rental / snack bar place was so sweet. I can't wait to go back.
