“Dedicated to Apollo 11”

Los Angeles County began construction of Apollo Park in 1969, and it was dedicated in 1972. Named in honor of the Apollo 11 astronauts who first journeyed to the moon, this 56-acre aquatic recreation area is part of the Antelope Valley Wastewater Reclamation Project. The park comprises 26 acres of three recreational lakes (Aldrin, Armstrong and Collins) and 30 landscaped acres of park land.
