“The Best Hot Dogs Around!”
Featured on the Food Network and Travel Channel, Hillbilly Hot Dogs is the brainchild of native Californians Sonny and Sharie, who have made a mint on this down-home-themed hot dog dive. This roadside gem is complete with converted dining car school buses and a plethora of Hillbilly one-liners plastered across the walls and ceilings of the shotgun shack building itself. With an aesthetic of delightful disrepair and menu offerings like the mouthwatering Taco Dog or pepperoni-loving Pizza Dog, what's there to dislike about this truly American masterpiece? If you're feeling really adventurous, try the legendary Homewrecker, a heavy beast of burden built around a fifteen-inch weenie! If you can't have a good chuckle at your own expense, you don't belong in West Virginia, where a place like Hillbilly Hot Dogs is a favorite with locals and visitors alike! we stopped here on our 2200 mile, 33 site visit and it was well worth the stop. REally cool atmosphere and such a wide variety of hotdogs. The inside of the place is unique as you dine inside of school buses. Also, make sure you tip the staff when you pay for your dogs--you'll get a nice surprise. THe staff is super friendly and we had the pleasure of meeting the owner and talking to him for quick some time. Great place to visit and some awesome photo ops.
My husband and I stopped here on our road trip down to Murrells Inlet .. The best hot dog I ever had ( West Virginia dog ) the place is very unique loved it ! The employees Were amazing , friendly Made our experience that much more enjoyable !! We will be back !
Good low brow hillbilly food and a must see destination for about $10 a person. VERY FUN! Expect to be there 2+ hours during the lunch rush but it goes by very quick as there is all kinds of hillbilly things to see.
It's a fun stop! Food wise, it's hot dogs and fixin's, pretty hard to screw up. Prices are really decent. Best part is for sure the crazy stuff all over the place!
My husband and I stopped here on our weekend road trip from Cincinnati with our kids. So glad we did! The vibe is very laid back and everyone is accepted. The food was pretty good. They have a hot dog for everyone and even had a veggie burger for my daughter! Be sure to leave your mark and sign your name anywhere you can find space.
stopped in a few weeks ago.. on our way back to Michigan.. very cool place, got to meet and talk with the owner Sharie... we will be back.. it's one of those places that you just can't explain to people.. you just have to see it yourself...
This place can get busy during lunch to be prepared. Super fun little hot dog stand with a truly WV redneck vibe. As Timothy said, be sure to tip the servers. Perfect place to take some, uh... WV-style photos on your trip through the state.
Fun place to see. Nothing to write home about. Sumptin to see I giss.
Myself & a friend figured this was the half way point on the 1st day of our road trip & an ideal place to get some food.... boy were we not wrong! The place is proper hillbilly looking, the people are amazing & the food was to die for.... proper Americana for a those wanting to sample that type of thing, just a shame I live 4K miles away or I'd be a regular for sure!
This little hole in the wall is worth the ten minutes off the beaten path trip off of I64. The food was reasonably priced and the experience was unlike any other. We dined in one of the buses with our three children (8,6,3) and they loved signing their names on the walls and eating fried foods. Our three year old had the best time exploring all the "junk." Definitely a photo stop and a good laugh!!
