“Does it come with Decaf?”

The metal clad, round building, with an attached spout and handle, was constructed in 1959 by Kenneth Wills. Known as "The Coffee Pot" or "Teapot," it served as a restaurant. Some sources cite the original plans for the quirky building to have a globe on top that lit up as if it were percolating. Originally, a concrete walkway, painted red to suggest a hot burner on a stove, encircled the coffee pot shaped building. A variety of businesses have taken advantage of the building’s distinctive features. Local residents reported that a bar occupied the building after the restaurant closed, followed by a gas station. A vacation canoe rental was owned and operated at The Coffee Pot by Glen Rose from 1978 until 2005. A fresh fish market occupied the building after the canoe livery. After a period of on and off residential occupancy, artist, Mark Breithaupt purchased the building in 2016 and began developing the property. Breithaupt now uses the property as a live, work, and sale studio/gallery for stone, steel, and mixed media sculptural works and gifts. The Coffee Pot House Studio is listed on the Lexington Rockbridge Studio Tour and is included in "The Architecture of Historic Rockbridge." Coffee Pot Art Business Hours are: Wednesday thru Sunday 10 to 5 Monday and Tuesday by Appointment.

I am a sculpture artist and I am purchasing the Coffee Pot. As of the closing, December, 2016, I will be creating and selling stone and steel art there. I will also be living there. Soon after I move in, you will see smoke immenating from the pour spout.
Every one is welcomed anytime to stop, take photos, and come inside to see the stone and steel art for sale in the downstairs gallery space.

I am an artist who now owns, lives, and creates art from the Coffee Pot House.
I have many improvements and projects planned to revitalize the Coffee pot.
Please stop and visit while taking photos.

Definitely felt creepy taking pictures of this person's house. Would probably not go back unless we were with someone obsessed with coffee pot shaped things.

The artist who now lives there is super nice, with some great pieces for sale inside. He was really accommodating regarding pictures of the house. Great stop, can't wait to go back!

It's a touch farther than this addy shows on the gps. I'm sure if someone lives there, they know people are taking pictures. We took ours from the median.

Totally wasn't worth my way out of my road trip. It looked like someones house and so I was too scared/nervous to stop and take a picture with this "coffee" shaped house.

Neat place and it's still for sale, so there isn't needy I feel too much uncomfortable about taking photos. Heck, cars driving by beeped at us as is to say "hey look everybody! More dorks taking pics of Bob's old house!! Have fun dorks!!" Totally worth it. ;)

No one was there and it's for sale so we snapped a quick pic, but as we got back in the car some man pulled up behind us so we got out of the drive quick and he followed us for a while into the parking lot of a food lion and we drove around the parking lot for a while to lose him.. 3/5, pretty neat but you run the risk of being murdered
