We compared a few menus along the street before we settled into Flying Fish. The decor was very cool, they have a TV which shows photos of some of the more popular dishes and specials, which was helpful. We ordered the basket with Shrimp and Catfish (fried of course!) Came with hushpuppies and Fries. We also tried the Fried Okra and pickled sweet tomatoes. Over all this experience did not disappoint and was a very good indicator that everything was about to be fried and delicious as we continued our journey across the South.
When traveling, I love to try the local cuisine. The flying fish didn't let my taste buds down. The catfish, hush puppies, and okra were excellent. The atmosphere was fun. This is an order your food and sit down kind of place . They were busy (which is always a good sign ) but the food was quick. I would definitely go again.
At this restaurant you order first, and sit and wait for your food to be prepared. Great hushpuppies and fried pickles. They had just about every wall covered with Billy Bass, donated from patrons. It was busy but the food was quickly made and very filling.
Fast and wonderful food, fun environment. It was insanely busy but the food was prepared quickly and well. The fish tacos had a huge hunk of well prepared fish. Mom got the fried oysters and enjoyed those too. The kitschy theme made us laugh. All in all it was a very enjoyable stop.
Seafood joint with Cajun flair. Get crawfish if they're on the menu, or a po boy. Disturbingly enough, they're also the largest Billy the Bigmouth Bass Adoption Center. You know those fake mounted fish that sing that you got as a gag gift until someone got so annoyed with it that you had to get rid of it? That thing.
Tasty catfish
