hike through tallgrass prairies

Most of Konza was once a part of the Dewey Cattle Ranch. In the 1970's, the Nature Conservancy purchased the property, over 13 square miles.  It is managed by Kansas State University to be used as a research natural area to study the tallgrass prairie ecosystem. a public nature trail takes visitors on a scenic hike across the virgin tallgrass prairie and atop the limestone-capped hills overlooking the property. Brochures, trail guides and an interpretive kiosk are found at the trailhead

Mistakenly got off on the wrong exit make sure you get off at 307. There's some trails you can walk through, we timed it so we were there for sunset and it was GORGEOUS. Totally worth stopping if you want to take a little walk through some really gorgeous nature.

Disclaimer! This is not an off-road scenic lookout. It's a hike! I stopped by on my roadtrip west and didn't allot the time for a 2.6 mile hike :/ Would have gotten up earlier if I had known and wish I could have seen the view in the photo! There are 3 hikes total, each a loop, that build on each other. The shortest is 2.6 miles.
