Roanoke Island Festival Park

I really love Manteo, and this interactive site was a wonderful surprise.
The Native American area allowed us to walk through their homes and learn about their language as well as how they interacted with the English.
A highlight was a replica of a ship - we got to get on the ship and touch and explore the whole space (which wasn’t much for so many men). Kids even found treasure! We also happened to be there when a group of men were training to use the sails.
There was a very informative blacksmith presentation, but the video was a little long and redundant after all we had learned that day.
We took a lot of time to explore the museum which covered not only the Lost Colony, but also the history of Roanoke Island since that time. We enjoyed dressing up, exploring the mystery of Roanoke, sword fighting, fishing, and duck hunting. Everything was well presented and invited interaction. I highly recommend @roanokeislandfestivalpark!

Great place to walk and learn!

Great place where you can touch everything. Good for kids. If you don't have kids go during the off season. We did and had a great time. Life size duck hunt game plus history.
