“only Florida state park with cave tours”

This is one of the few state parks with dry (air-filled) caves and is the only state park in Florida to offer cave tours to the public. The cave has dazzling formations of limestone stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, flowstones and draperies. The Chipola River and a freshwater spring provide areas for fishing, canoeing and boating. Florida Caverns State Park is popular for camping, picnicking and horseback riding. The park does not rent horses, however stables are available for equestrian campers. The park also features a nine-hole, New Deal-era golf course set in beautiful rolling terrain.

Guided cave tours are offered Thursday through Monday except Thanksgiving and Christmas (no cave tours on Tuesday and Wednesday). The tour lasts 35-40 minutes and is considered to be moderately strenuous. An audiovisual program about touring the cave and other natural areas of the park is available in the visitor center.

I have no clue how this park only received 3.5 out of 5 stars. Even though the rains flooded 3 of the cave rooms it was a great tour and the trails in the spring are breath taking full of wild flowers. I grew up in the Tampa Bay area, and we would frequently go camping and hunting all around Florida. I can't believe my parents never took us here growing up. If you hike early in the Moring you will see humming birds, fox and turkey roaming around.

Very interesting stop. The kids enjoyed it. Lots of walking and ducking in the caves. Wear comfy shoes! The caves stay at 65 degrees year round, so it's nice and cool once you're underground.

This is a cool (literally, in summer) place to visit. Easy to get into the Park, and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Other visitors make it more interesting, but even by itself and all alone, the cave tour would be a great adventure. The Discovery Room, the Christmas Tree and the Round Room are all part of a great adventure. Go visit!

The main parking is only a few steps from the gift shop and museum. Excellent Cave Tour by our tour guide (highly recommended). Nice and easy walking trails. Must see: Blue hole water and the cave.

Just a $5 entry fee per car. Great park, complete with a cavern tour, plus there's also the blue hole and cypress trees to see.

One must be part of ranger led tour to see the caverns. Probably the smartest way to enjoy the caverns and geological structures. Our Ranger was knowledgeable and entertaining. Made the tour enjoyable.

The cavern tour was great. We got to see the blue hole but left due to rain. Would love to revisit and tour the whole park.
