“with a summit providing breathtaking views of Lake Superior”
The summit of Sugarloaf provides a breathtaking view of Lake Superior and the surrounding hills, and is a major destination in Marquette for visitors and locals alike. There are two trails to the top: One is marked difficult and another is marked moderate. In both instances, there are wooden stairs and benches along the way for your convenience, during the 20-minute hike to the top. Sugarloaf Mountain Natural Area is owned by Marquette County and located in Marquette Township. Sugarloaf Mountain is one of the most popular scenic overlooks on the central Upper Peninsula coastline. The Sugarloaf Mountain Natural Area consists of a 3,200 foot trail of pathway and stairway segments that lead to the mountain's summit 470 feet above Lake Superior. There are viewing platforms on the mountain's summit which provide a spectacular view of the rugged coastline and surrounding forestlands for miles.
Sugarloaf Mountain is a relatively easy hike with exceptionally amazing views. It’s one of the must-see sites in the area that’ll let you see miles and miles into the distance.
This place is just fantastic! The views are splendid and the going around the place will take around 2 hours. And also be sure to have some time to stroll around the snack shops, the prices there are very reasonable!
