“An Original Paramount Dining Car”
An Original Paramount Dining Car. Open 24 hours a day, breakfast served all day. An original Art Deco diner built in 1948 by Paramount Dining Car Company of Haledon, New Jersey and transported to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and opened the same year. It continued serving traditional American cuisine for 44 years, at which time it was dismantled and transported to the historical Art Deco District of Miami Beach. After many months of restoration and help from the City of Miami Beach, the Diner was opened on September 11, 1992, a day we celebrate and remember America's history.
Went there after seeing it on DDD. Walked in with objective signs of severe dehydration from the beach with my wife. Our server Jamie was awesome and patient, giving me glass of water after glass of water before taking our order.
I got the chicken which was good but not OMG good. My wife got the Argentinian steak per Jamie's recommendation. My wife went nuts over it then offered me a bite. OMG, it made me want to speak in tongues! It was amazing! Very few restaurants have made me "want" to come back but this is one of them. 4 out of 5. One point deduction on the chicken, sorry.
great little diner. the omelettes were amazing! loved the cute little placemats showing Florida. First stop we made in Miami and it made a nice welcome to the area.
Fantastic diner, with healthy food options and a full bar. Very reasonably priced as well. They also have a cute little gift shop where you can buy t-shirts. Good service, but remember you gotta be fully-dressed (i.e. no bikinis!) :) This place was also featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.
My experience isn't as great as others. First if you are history buff make sure you request eating in the actual car. Otherwise you end up like me eating on the modern attached outdoor patio. My bad but still disappointing. On Monday afternoon they were out of all major ice cream flavors limiting the types of shakes they have available so skipped that too. Food was ok. Standard breakfast food. Nothing great. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.
Great little diner. Was a little busy on the Tuesday morning we came, and took our server a while to get his act in gear, but the food was solid, the shake amazing and the atmosphere fun. We sat around a really cool corner booth with a group of 7 so this is place can be better for groups than your usual diner car.
