“World-famous ribs and BBQ sauce”
In 1951, "Ribs King" Ted Gregory and wife Matula purchased McCabe's Inn, and subsequently rechristened it "The Montgomery Inn." Their ribs are consistently amazing, and the sauce is the best BBQ sauce I've ever had. More sweet than smokey. It goes great with the Saratoga chips and the onion straws. And if you didn't hurt yourself eating meat and fried apps they have Graeters ice cream for dessert!
This one is the original but I prefer going to the one downtown near the river. Much better view and scenery than the one in Montgomery and the food is just as good.
Montgomery Inn is Cincinnati's best BBQ. Been going here my entire life and as a proud Cincy native, can passionately say this is my favorite place to get ribs (locally). Their BBQ sauce is very unique and sold at nearby grocery stores. They have some incredible homemade and famous saratoga chips to scoop up the BBQ sauce. The ribs are fall off the bone so if that's not your thing, you won't like these. All portions are good size but pricey. Don't expect to get out of here for less than $20 per head without alcohol, at minimum. As the original location, they have valet parking in the back and plenty of seating.
Stopped in around 2 on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn't very busy. Food was delicious and service was good. On the way out the valet had started and people were coming up in groups so if you want to miss the crowd I suggest going in around that time. My meal was amazing and I loved that it came with chips and side of barbecue dipping sauce.
This well-known-to-locals rib joint has some really uniquely flavored BBQ sauce. The chicken and chips are delicious and service has always been fast for me. They don't have a lot of import or local craft beers, which is somewhat disappointing.
The meat here is great, the sauce is good if you like sweet bbq sauce. and it is sweet.... in every sense of the word
It goes without saying that this place is known for their Ribs. The BBQ sauce really hits home with me as it has a unique sweet taste. It wasn't long ago, they added a chipotle style sauce that really isn't that spicy - def worth a try. My favorite menu item is the Ribs King Wrap (uploaded picture above). It hits the spot during lunch and I often order it for dinner as well. The King Wrap is packed with shredded rib meat, bbq sauce, and sautéed onions / mushrooms. Served with onion straws, I like to substitute with the saratoga chips and a side of bbq. Cincy is definitely known for this place so get there, throw on a bib, and dig in.
I really enjoy Montgomery Inn's ribs, but mostly because they are so meaty. The sauce is ok. It is sweeter than I prefer, but has a good flavor otherwise.
This place is a Cincinnati classic, and you really must try it if you want to fully experience the area.
