“Making fine wine on the banks of the Banister River.”
Molliver Vineyards & Winery was founded by Marshall Molliver during 2000 when he purchased 134 acres of riverfront land located in Halifax County, Virginia. The river is the Banister, which has since been designated by the Commonwealth of Virginia to be a “scenic river”. Molliver earned his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering during 1968. Subsequently, he attended Graduate School and earned an advanced degree during 1972, also in Chemical Engineering. In 1975, while in Texas, Molliver began studies toward the completion of an MBA. Furthermore, he has attended many wine making seminars given by Dr. Bruce Zoecklein, Professor Emeritus in Enology at Virginia Tech, including several that were given on site at Molliver Vineyards & Winery. These seminars focused on the effects of various wine components on smell, taste, mouth feel, and sight. His career began in 1968 with a large multinational chemical company that discovered and produced many of the world’s chemicals. As part of his inter-divisional rotations, he worked in the Agricultural Chemical Division for several years where he contributed to the development and manufacture of chemicals that enhanced the growth of agricultural crops, including grapes.
