“A living historic treasure”
The Miners Foundry Cultural Center is a living historic treasure serving Nevada County as a cultural arts and community events center. It is a symbol of California’s rich historical heritage, providing an educational and social bridge from our past to the present and future. Since the 1860s, the Miners Foundry has been an integral part of life in Nevada City. From its humble beginnings as a machine shop during the Gold Rush to its current incarnation as a premier cultural center in Northern California, the Foundry has hosted everything and everyone from town hall meetings and weddings to international musicians, dancers and artisans in their beautiful stone and great halls. The Stone Hall was originally a machine shop and was built using native stone and heavy exposed beams. Now it is used as a charming banquet, reception, and special event hall. Amenities include chandeliers, a working stone fireplace, and antique furnishings. The Stone Hall is accessible from the Foyer, the Kitchen, and the back deck.
