“a throwback to the old neighborhood po-boy shops”
Where can you get the best po-boys in the world? New Orleans. Where else! New Orleans is credited with creating the first po-boy in 1929, when a local restaurant began serving 15 cent “po-boy” sandwiches (loaves of French bread stuffed with roast beef) to striking street car drivers and motor men who were off the job and on the picket line. The restaurant servers would exclaim, “Here comes another poor boy,” when a striking worker walked into the restaurant and thus the sandwich and the name was born. Mahony’s Po-Boys & Seafood opened its doors in 2008 as a tribute to those early New Orleans’ neighborhood po-boy shops and quickly became local a favorite. They based their dishes on tried and true family recipes, creating traditional and reimagined versions of many New Orleans’ favorites. Using fresh local ingredients, Mahony’s menu reflects the best of yesterday and today’s po-boy and seafood dishes. Our relaxed, casual, neighborhood atmosphere is a place where locals gather and visitors sample our great selection of local offerings. Come join us for po-boys, seafood, drinks and fun at Mahony’s!
