“Latin food in the heart of Newark”
Mi gente means “my people” in Spanish, and Manny Beovides, 48, the owner of the bustling little cafe of that name in downtown Newark, was born in Cuba. But the Cubano sandwich ($5) notwithstanding, Mr. Beovides describes the menu as broadly Latin, and he sees its appeal as universal.
