“An old timey fort and museum”
Blast from the past! Great place to visit with the family. Make sure to give the kids $5 or so, so they can do their own shopping. Very well stocked western gift store including such staples as old time candy and fake buffalo poop. The "small" but very complete display of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in Miniature is great. Fort Cody Trading Post has been a beacon on the prairie for over 40 years! In 1968, Fort Cody opened near brand new Interstate 80 and a great partnership was born! It is pretty unusual for someone to say they haven’t stopped or at least driven by on their way to someplace else! The Fort is now in second generation ownership and we plan to be here for a long time. Customers that came as children are now bringing in their own kids or grandkids to savor that sweet touch of ‘Roadside Americana’ that is so quickly dwindling in the U.S. A stop at Fort Cody is to many, a step back into a more simple and gentle time. To others, it is a brand new adventure to explore and enjoy! Be sure to take time to view Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show in Miniature, with its 20,000 hand carved figures. It is one of the largest displays of folk art in the country! See our Old West Museum, filled with authentic pieces of historic Cowboy gear and Buffalo Bill memorabilia! Kids will enjoy exploring the stockade out back, complete with jail, wagons, log cabin, and one of the few remaining ‘Muffler Men’ in the United States! Our little two-headed calf has fascinated young and old for over 40 years, too. Yep, there’s something for everyone, all free of charge.
Pretty much a souvenir shop, small display in the back. Nice people.
There's not a lot to see in western Nebraska, but there is Fort Cody!
Stop in to see the two-headed calf, Indian Muffler Man or purchase the Old West-themed tchotchke of your dreams.
My boys loved this place very much. They loved to see the displays in the back of the place and roam the aisles of the store looking for cool stuff! This is a great tourist place for all to visit!
We went because my sons name is Codey and I just wanted to get a picture of him in front of the Fort Cody wall. If you want any touristy souvenirs, this is the place to find them.
Best souvenir shop in Nebraska on 80. My boyfriend and I traveled from Ohio to Yellowstone and stopped here on the way back and it was a perfect example of western Americana. My favorite part was the taxidermy displayed on the walls, including a two-headed calf, and a rattlesnake. They had candy, toys, novelties, furs, skulls, you name it!! If you're passing through North Platte it's a must see!!
This place is cool. Perfect leg stretch stop for anyone. Clean Restrooms, and huge giftshop. Magnets, mugs, tshirts, random jellys jams honeys and hot sauces. And jerky. And really nice jewelry. I picked up a silver stone ring with azurite ( navy) and malachite ( green) $21 😍 staff was very nice, and welcoming. Cute gimmicks and toys for the kiddies. Lovely place- must stop.
Typically tourists spot, nothing special.
Good place to stop for all sorts of souvenirs and gifts.
