Flag Rock Recreational Area

For aspiring cryptozoologists hoping to spy Bigfoot, the Flag Rock Area Trails network offers 10 miles of singletrack spread over the flanks of High Knob, open to mountain bikers, hikers, and runners. However, visitors are more likely to encounter the recreation area’s endemic green salamanders, the only tree climbing salamanders found in Virginia.
