“a jewel on the prairie”
Ogallala was a wild and woolly cow town in 1887 when I was built. I sat outside of town on a hill like the classy lady I was intended to be. The quality that went into my building made me a jewel on the prairie and the pride of the community. I've now lasted so long that I was put on the National Register of Historic Places. The Ogallala Mansion on the Hill is open to the public during the summer months from Memorial Day until two weeks after Labor Day. The hours of operation are Tuesday Thru Saturday, from 9am to 12 noon and 1pm until 4pm in the afternoon. Sunday hours are 1pm to 4pm. The mansion is closed on Mondays.
