“A celebration of The Arts & Craft Style”
The Arts & Crafts architectural style exemplified in the buildings at Asilomar by noted architect Julia Morgan, was part of a movement that influenced architects, designers and craftspeople. The movement had its roots in late 19th century Britain, where architects wanted to reform design and bring back the quality craftsmanship of the work itself.
The Asilomar State Beach and Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, the Monterey Peninsula, and the Monterey Bay are home to a wide variety of plant and animal life that live in the forests; in rivers, marshes, lagoons, and sloughs; along the sea shore, in the bay and harbors, and, of course, in the Pacific Ocean.Today, many of these important habitats are being protected, restored, and preserved as healthy and natural environments for wildlife. The dunes restoration here at Asilomar is a great example of these efforts.
If you wish to spend your night at a place in which architecture plays a significant role then Asilomar State Beach and Conference Grounds is the place to go.
We had been to Pacific Grove in California and booked for a night stay there.
The rooms were in a good condition and well cared and the staff was very honest and careful with their manners.
If you decide to spend some quality time there, you will respect the place's architecture and how it blends with the natural surroundings, as there aren't many luxurious things to do there. There is no TV but you can still connect to WIFI.
An open space works as a playground for the children and the views from the second floor are amazing!
