“fantastic one day rafting trips”

Colorado River Discovery offers the most fantastic one day rafting trips anywhere on the mighty Colorado River. We provide half-day and full day tours that are perfect for the entire family (kids ages 4 and up). As you float on one of the most dramatic stretches of river in the western United States, your experienced guide will tell the story of the area’s soaring sandstone cliffs, crystal blue-green waters, abundant wildlife, exploration by Major John Wesley Powell and others, and the river’s modern role in the Southwest’s water and power delivery system.

My husband and family scheduled a trip with this company for the last day of our stay in the Grand Canyon area to the tune of $450. Some background - We are from Kentucky and had chosen to drive cross-country because we had never visited the West before and wanted to see the landscape. A beautiful drive, but very tiring. Lesson learned! Will never attempt that again.

Of course when you book, there is a cancellation policy in small print at the bottom of the form. It says that you must cancel 48 hours in advance or you are subject to a 100% cancellation fee. I didn't feel too concerned about that at the time of booking. The wording - "subject to" and cancellation FEE led me to understand that getting a refund would depend on circumstances and that there would be a fee, not necessarily a total loss of money expended. I did not realize that it meant absolutely no money would be refunded and I would end up paying $450 with nothing to show for it.

I have fibromyalgia and the day before I had a major flare, was in a lot of pain, extremely tired, knew I would not be able to make a two hour drive to Page and then ride a raft/pontoon down a river. My family was also tired - looking at a long drive back to KY the next day, and didn't want to leave me behind all day to stay in a room by myself. I contacted the company and asked for a refund. The answer - no, our policy requires 48 hours notice, but you get a raincheck date for a year. I explained we did not live even remotely nearby and would not be able to take advantage of that. Perhaps a partial refund, even a quarter refund would have been appreciated. No, our policy says.....

So don't expect any understanding if you have to cancel due to illness, needing to cut your trip short, missing your trip due to traffic difficulties, any number of other reasons. Be 100% sure that you will be able to take the trip. Because you will get no understanding from the company. They don't care about you, only about their money. That's their prerogative of course, but it's kind of a sad way to run a business in my opinion. I think some flexibility with policy is the key to good customer service. Apparently that is outdated thinking in the time of me, me, me.

What a wonderful relaxing ride down the colorado river. Our tour guide Megan was so much fun, full of energy and information. She made the ride that much better. The scenery was beautiful. A must do if you go to the grand canyon

This was the perfect way to spend the day! We had the BEST time! Our guide, Nate, was nice, knowledgeable, and funny. We did the full day tour so we were given a delicious turkey sandwich for lunch as well as several snacks to keep us full on the ride. We were also able to go and see the petroglyphs, which was a great bit of education thrown into the vacation for history lovers like me. I took tons of photos during the first part of the trip but then I was so enthralled that I put my camera down--hard for me since I'm a photographer--and just tried to take it all in for the rest of the ride. My photos wouldn't be able to do the scenery justice anyway. It was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. This is a definite must for anyone passing through Page!

This was our first stop when we arrived at the grand canyon, and I'm so glad it was. The first time we saw the grand canyon was from a raft at the bottom on the Colorado river. How magnificent! We took tons of photos, enjoyed stories and facts from our awesome tour guide Blaise, and just had an incredible time. The weather was beautiful and the water crystal clear. Will never forget our experience here.

It was a pretty view of the canyon and our tour guide was awesome, however not worth it. The company advertises smooth water rafting, but we just sat on a pontoon/ raft thing. There was no rafting at all. I didn't research enough or maybe that is what smooth rafting is but we were disappointed. But if you just want to sit as someone steers a boat and tells you facts about the canyon then you will like this.

This is a first class tour operator and we would highly recommend this to anyone. The adventure begins at the Colorado River Discovery center in Page which is a very nice facility offering outdoor clothing, food and very clean restrooms. Tours are transported via motor coach (very nice) to the base of Lake Powell dam (which few people get see up close) where you are loaded onto motorized rafts. We were very comfortable and did NOT get wet. We had Brent as our guide and he was amazing!!! You must do this! It's worth the money!
