My dad was happy about meeting and talking to a veteran in the war museum within the museum. Everything was vintage and adorable(some we're even for sale).
Great stop! Lots of picture spots around the downtown as well. Museum has some neat relics to see.
03.25.14: A lot of artifacts as related to Route 66. Interesting stuff for a quick stop off in Pontiac. Lots of other thing to look at within the building as well.
You have to stop here to see the murals.....definitely worth the stop.....I have some great photos, but no way to post them on here.
This is a historic building downtown that has different museum displays on different floors. The Rt 66 stuff is cool but the War Memorial is awesome! It was a fun trip with my kids and we walked down the street to the Poniac car museum which made the trip!
Very cool museum, though I'm going to warn you, there are loads of Route 66 museums along the road and after the first couple they really are all alike. Very similar exhibits and artifacts. Also, the gift shops all carry the same merchandise. Good thing is the museums are cheap, and it's nice to stop by and support what they're doing.
Town is really small but the museum is great! It is very fun place to get an idea of what to expect on route 66
I am so happy I stopped and saw this museum. I especially love the map on the wall. I love maps anyway but this one was painted on and you can see all the stops on Route 66!
Worth the stop. Staff were very nice. There is a lot of information and memorabilia to look at. Loved the 2nd floor walk through exhibits. It had set ups of what rooms would look like in houses in certain time periods. The murals around town are awesome! The town is like a mural treasure hunt. Very cool!
The museums are definitely worth seeing! We took a trolley tour around town that started at the museum which was fun! My daughter loved it and we learned a lot about Pontiac!
