“Enjoy the Eastern Wildlife”
Prompton State Park provides boat launching and picnicking facilities to the 290-acre Prompton Lake, which is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. 26 miles of hiking trails surround the lake. Most of the park is open to hunting, trapping and the training of dogs during established seasons. Common game species are deer and turkey. Hunting woodchucks, also known as groundhogs, is prohibited. Dog training is only permitted from the day following Labor Day through March 31 in designated hunting areas. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Pennsylvania Game Commission rules and regulations apply. Contact the park office for ADA accessible hunting information. The 290-acre Prompton Lake is a warm-water fishery. Common fish are crappie, yellow perch, and largemouth and smallmouth bass.
