Umpqua Discovery Center

Located in Reedsport on the central Oregon coast the Umpqua Discovery Center is an educational and cultural resource for all ages making active, innovative contributions to preserving the Oregon "Tidewater Community" experience. Interactive exhibits and programs illustrate how land, water and people have shaped each other over time. The Umpqua Discovery Center is open 7 days a week year round except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Days. The Umpqua Discovery Center recently rotated the oral histories in the ‘I Remember, I Remember’ area of ‘Tidewaters & Time’.  Visitors will be able to enjoy stories from long time lower Umpqua residents Butch Thompson, Harold Warren, Joyce Brandon, Anna Plov, Al Dorsey, Virginia Leach, Bernice Bates and Lyster Graham.  While at the Center, take a look at the new working weather station in ‘Pathways to Discovery’.  This exhibit features local weather information from the area and will archive previous weather.  This information is available on our website, along with a webcam viewing the Umpqua River.
