“Chapel-of-uneasy feelings”
St. Helena Parish Chapel of Ease Ruins is a historic site in Frogmore, South Carolina on Saint Helena Island. The Anglican chapel was constructed in 1740 by planters on Saint Helena Island as a chapel of ease for parishioners who had difficulty traveling to worship at the main parish church in Beaufort, South Carolina. The ruins were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. Check out the creepy adjacent masoleum.
Not as isolated as I thought. It's right along a small highway, which is relatively quiet but certainly not isolated. There's a church across the street. Houses dot the side of the highway.
The ruins are nice though, what with the Spanish moss and all. Not far off the beaten path. An easy stop for a few minutes and few pictures.
It's a gorgeous area, but unless you're going to be in the Bluffton/Hunting Island area for something else, I personally don't think it's worth the long trek from 95.
It was surprising to see a colonial era structure in an isolated area still standing. Very awe inspiring ruins.

Beware of mosquitos but very gorgeous area!
Beautiful ruins and not far off the beaten path, very easy to find and a nice place to pull off and park while you explore.
