“exponential great time”

The 146-acre park is owned by CPS Energy and managed by Thousand Trails Management Services. Calaveras Lake is 3,624-acres and offers fishing, boating and watersport opportunities. The park includes a nature trail, campsites, shaded picnic tables, fishing pier and boat ramp.In addition to water birds such as great egret, double-crested cormorant, American white pelican, common moorhen, American coot and pied billed grebe, birders may observe loggerhead shrike, marsh wren, crested caracara and Harris' hawk. We have also observed black-crowned night heron and Eastern meadowlark in the late winter/early spring (February - March). Springtime visitors to Calaveras Park are treated to wildflowers such as Indian paintbrush and Texas lupine (bluebonnet).

Are you visiting San Antonio and you love fishing ? Then Calaveras Lake park sounds like a great place to be, especially if you have a boat.

It is one of these lakes that are rich in fish stock and a great spot for fishing large catfish and red fish. On the other hand if you just want to chill out, then you will be pleased to find out that there are some nice spots for picnic.

Overall, it is a very nice place to spend few hours during the weekend with your family surrounded by lively nature. Take binoculars with you, because you will have the opportunity to observe many different kind of birds and beautiful native wildflowers, such as the Texas lupine

Experience: was so-so bathroom not that clean. To expensive to get in. Had my boat, four people with me cost $44. Cost of gas, food, and etc. I could have taken the family to Sea World or park..... What is up with the park closing at 8pm?

We took our RV there for the weekend. In my opinion it is too expensive to pay per person and then pay for the site. For two nights it was $78. That is too much for the subpar amenities. Unless I missed something, they only have the full hookups, fishing, and awfully kept trails. The attendant that checked us in was not a pleasant person. My husband has spoken to him and asked how late we could arrive and he said 8 o’clock. We got there before 8 o’clock and had to wait for others the check in. When we drove up to the window, he tried to turn us away because it was about 5 after 8. He was repeatedly reminded of the telephone conversation and he finally admitted he had told my husband to get there before 8 o’clock.

If you like alligators, expensive showers, DRAIN FLIES, vultures stay here. If not, find another place. It’s also expensive.
