Come down to Seaport Village to visit us! You'll wonder why you stayed away!
Went out to this place for dinner with a group of my colleagues from work. It was conveniently located in the Seaport Village next to our hotel and was an easy walk over for dinner. The restaurant itself seems like it is suffering from a midlife crisis, things are beat-up and it just gives off a vibe of being a place that is struggling a bit to survive.
I had the clam chowder and it was pretty good. The soup was creamy and had a nice proportion of clams and other ingredients with it. Dinner was ok, but to be honest now that I am writing this review, I can not remember what I had so it did not leave that great of an impression on me. I am going to have to think about this, and if I can remember I will had to edit my review.
I have a feeling that if you are from out of town, and want to have an amazing dinner, there might other options that would be better in the area.
Dinner on 5/5/2017 at Buster's around 8 pm - Dinner was good and the waitress was friendly.
But processing our gift card (that we purchased at the Jolly Roger - same ownership, yes?) was ridiculous. For some reason, the "manager" had to approve the gift card. He was busy with a large dinner party upstairs. After waiting 20 minutes for his approval, we said we needed to go - we had a 3 year old in our group that was ready for bed. Well, we were asked to wait longer and still no manager. It actually took 40 minutes to process our credit cards and gift card - and our bill was never correct. Furthermore, and most disappointingly, was that no one working in the restaurant seemed concerned about our wait. The manager named Rubin Sarabia was completely unhelpful, unapologetic, abrasive, and could clearly careless about our concerns over the bill, our long wait, and our frustration in our experience. Dining is very competitive and we frequent many restaurants in San Diego. We came to Buster's because of your gift card incentive from Jolly Roger. We remain baffled why a gift card issued "in house" from a restaurant listed as part of your ownership/chain would require a busy manager's approval on a Friday night during peak time. And, again, most discouraging, was Rubin's apathy and abrasiveness helping us settle the bill. Questioning in house gift cards, showing no concern for customers, and allowing customers to wait 40 minutes before settling a dinner bill is simply unacceptable and, over time, can lead to the demise of restaurant in a very competitive market. We hope this feedback benefits your restaurant chain... Unfortunately, we now have an exceptionally negative memorable experience we will share with others (40 minutes wait time with no concern from a manager is quite a story) - an experience that could so easily have been positive and one to share for other reasons. -Thank you.
