“over 100 years of awesome!”
Welcome to Hattie’s Hat, home to Ballard’s oldest and most historic bar. Whether you believe it was hand carved in France and shipped around Cape Horn or made by Chicago’s Brunswick Company, you can’t deny that it’s been sitting right here since 1904. That’s a fact. Many a meal and drink has been served over it for the past 100 plus years. And while the name of the establishment has changed from The Old Home, to Malmen’s and finally to Hattie’s Hat, Ballard’s original watering hole remains the same. If the cooks would let you in the kitchen you could see remnants of Ballard’s first tile floor. As to not upset Tara and the kitchen crew, we suggest you take a peek at Seattle’s last remaining Fred Oldfield mural above the booths near the door. Painted here in the early fifties it’s an idyllic Scandinavian landscape, very similar to our own North Puget Sound area surroundings. And then there’s our food and drink, just as classic as the bar itself. Please enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner with us. Thanks for coming and please come back again.
