“Water fall from the Big Sioux River”
The Falls of the Big Sioux River have been a focus of life in the region throughout history. Native American peoples were the first to visit the falls and bring stories of them to European explorers. They have been the center of recreation and industry since the founding of the city in 1856. At Falls Park, located at North Phillips Avenue and Falls Park Drive, visitors can see the city's namesake as well as some of the first buildings built in Sioux Falls. Today the park covers 123 acres. An average of 7,400 gallons of water drop 100 feet over the course of the Falls each second.
It was beautiful but the area really stunk! I'm not sure where the smell was coming from but it really bothered us. We got our pictures and left pretty quickly.
Loved seeing Sioux Falls built around Falls Park. The landscape is perfectly manicured. Make sure to go up the Observation Tower, it is free! You will see a stunning view of the town. The falls were gorgeous and unexpected to be in the middle of the town, but the rocks around the park make the experience even more picturesque. This is a MUST stop if you are in the area.
Just gorgeous! Very clean bathrooms and grounds.
Beautiful park to stop and walk through! We will definitely stop here again. The cafe in the park is great!!
Absolutely beautiful! My kids loved walking around by the falls. Will stop again if we are passing through.
Tower was great but elevator was broken. still the climb up the stairs was well worth it!
Great park area, wide open grassy lawns, and great views of the falls, fun attractions.
Great views of falls. nice overlook tower
Great place for a quick leg stretcher stop. The park was beautiful and well taken care of. Very clean. Nice observation tower. We spent about an hour eating a picnic lunch and walking around.
