“A famous Southern landmark”
Welcome to the Beacon Drive-In, a famous Southern landmark and home of the world-famous Beacon Iced Tea, Chili Cheese A-Plenty, Sliced Pork-A-Plenty, Onion Rings, and The Pig's Dinner and many other food favorites. It's a Southern tradition to eat at The Beacon Drive-In. You'll be greeted by Smiles-A-Plenty and served with Service-A-Plenty. Famous for our Chili Cheese A-Plenty, a chili cheeseburger on a bun buried on a plate underneath piles of sweet onion rings and French fried potatoes and the great drive-in tea of the South – generously sweetened, laced with a touch of lemon, served over a pack of shaved ice . We sell more tea than any other single restaurant in the U.S.A.! The Beacon Drive-In is one of the few drive-in restaurant legends remaining that offers curb service. Cruise on in and let one of our friendly curb hops take care of your order. Featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!
Don't go for the food go for the friendly folks
The food is good, but the atmosphere is fun and worth the ten minute drive from the interstate. You feel a little pressured when the guy yells at you to "MOVE THE LINE!" LOL
A Spartanburg institution since 1946. Loud. Confusing. Crowded. Don't come to The Beacon expecting haut cuisine, cloth tablecloths, or vegan selections.
NOT A DRIVE-IN! We came all the way here off the highway with our dog in the car, expecting something like Sonic but with real cooking. It's just a diner.
We stopped in for an early dinner on our way back home to Wisconsin. This is a unique diner for sure. You walk in and immediately see a line of people walking down a cafeteria style counter and hear a man hollering. The man hollering is the one taking your order. They don't write anything down. I was amazed at how seamlessly and quick this worked. The portions were insane and the burgers were pretty good. Make sure if you don't want a huge portion of fries and rings to simply ask for only fries. My daughter didn't and I couldn't even see her burger under it all. It was definitely worth the short drive off the interstate. Not fancy at all but quick, friendly, and tasty.
