Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on October 06, 2023No other word to explain this and town but Generous. Clean park, with free water and 30 amp hook ups with gas and diesel across the street. Unleaded $3.39 and diesel $4.59, as well as a grocery story and McDonald’s plus many others. I stopped here for repairs and I couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you to the restaurants owners and others who donate to keep this park open. My dog and I are greatly appreciative for your contribution to keep us moving forward. God bless.

I want to thank the town of St Albans for a free stay right on the river! That said, expect some road noise and the occassional train in the background. Thanks to the free electric hookup our AC masked the noise and we slept great. The water spigot did not work, however there was one on the front of the restroom building. Park services left a key so they obviosly knew about the problem which I reported to the town. There is a trash can at each of the 4 sites and a single dump station. You can walk across the street to McDonalds and Kroger. Lots of standing water around so they must have had rain recently. Saw a police officer checking on an illegal tent the morning I left so they are watching the place. Locals are friendly.

They have a note posted to vacate all rv camping spots by 10pm 9.10.23. Not sure how long it will be out of service.
We have stayed in St Albans city park several times. While it is on a heavily traveled road, it quiets down around midnight. We have always found the park clean and in good working order. This is a great overnight stop. There are a few restaurants within walking distance as well as a Kroger.
There is a dump station as well as fresh water spigot.

The park is open for RV camping when we came thru. There is a gate locked on one end so you go in at the parking lot end and drive past the nice large playground ( that is fenced in for safety) and into area with 3 first come rv parking spaces. We were in a 22 ft Travel trailer and had room for truck to fit beside or in ground. A lg fifth wheel was next to us and fit. Grass between and lg trees. 30A and 120 v power at each site. Great cell service and shopping, laundromat and restaurant options all around within a block to 5 miles. Theres a dump station and water In the parking lot end you can access on the way out. Best part is it’s a free camp for a 2 day limit. There is a donation tube in the playground area so please help keep it open.

Great place to stay if you are be lucky enough to find one of the three open spots available. The site nearest the playground DOES NOT have working electric. In the middle spot someone has parked a Montana fifth wheel and plugged into the electric but is not physically staying at the campground. No tow vehicle while we were there.
This is the second time we have found this situation in our last two stays. It’s unfortunate that some people take advantage of St Albans generosity.
This is a great space to overnight or take a two night rest. All three sites are level. The campground allows you to stay two nights in a 15 day window. The traffic is heavy during commuting hours but is quiet afterwards. You may hear some barges passing by on the river or trains on the nearby tracks otherwise fairly quiet.
In walking distance you will find restaurants, Krogers and other conveniences. There is a walking trail along the river as well as a playground and boat launch. We have stayed here several times and plan to do so as long the park is open.

It’s free so I don’t think I can complain. The main issue for us was the traffic noise. It is relentless throughout the day/night. Plus during evening hours, there’s trains adding to the hubbub. But the view of the river is lovely and we walked across the road to Kroger for groceries.

Nice spot for free - 30 AMP, there is supposed to be water and dump station here, but did not see it. Also it looked like 2 of the 3 sites were taken by people that were staying more than 2 nites. (it is supposed to be 2 nite max).

This was a beautiful and FREE spot right on the river with 30 amp electric. There are three RV spots in a nice little city park, where you can walk along the waterfront.
The park is only a few minutes off of I-64 in the middle of St. Albans, and it's definitely worth driving by to see if there is an opening.
The only downside was the noise from the adjacent highway that runs through town, but that's a small price to pay!
