“literally live goats on the roof!”
For bleating hearts... a fun stop in the north Georgia mountains. Goats On The Roof is a fun family stop! Lots to do, we carry Amish foods, homemade fudge, best ice cream, gem mining and rock crushers!! You can even feed the goats and become an official Goat Ranger! Or you can sit back and relax in one of our Amish Adirondack rockers by the fire pit roasting marshmallows! Theres always a surprise at Goats!
Place is GONE
I think it burned down? We made the trip...no longer there
At first arrival this looks like the coolest place to work... but after walking around the last thing you see are the goats on the roof. A glorified souvenir shop with some employees that are happy to serve you with a smile and all the while doing the 'ole tourist bait and switch. We ordered 4 ice-creams, one size only on the special. After stacking the cups, one was much smaller. After spending $45+ on fudge and junk snacks, forget about getting a "free" cup for water from the soft-drink drink fountain, you can only buy bottle for $2. A public water fountain would have been fine, if there was one to be found. I gave this cute-looking but a lot left to be desired tourist trap and thumbs down on the Rad-o-Meter.
This is definitely a tourist trap - but it's fun and unique! There were indeed goats on the roof and there was plenty of things to do there. It is also good for a quick pit stop for a photo opportunity.
A better place to stop and stretch your legs. I stopped here while roadtripping from South Georgia to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge this past week, husband & three kids ages 12, 7, and 3 in tow. On the outside they had the main building with the infamous goats on the roof, and a small fenced petting/feeding opportunity area wrapped around the side of the building. In front of the main building were a few adirondac chairs on the porch, a couple benches and a fire-pit, behind the building another very small building or two where they sell the ice cream you'll read about in earlier descriptions/reviews. Inside the first area of the main building you'll find small batch jellies and jams from small local companies, off-end candies, a refrigerated area with artisan cheeses and such and some typical on-the-road snack items. To the right is another section of the store hosting old-timey toys like wooden rubber-band guns, slingshots, and cork pop shotguns, a display with some beautiful crystals made into pendants on necklaces, and things like postcards and such. Another room boasts a very small game-room area and one more about the same size has local art within. I'd love to say we spent a ton of time really checking this place out and enjoying all the little things it has to offer but we didn't as weren't trying to spend a strenuous amount of time here and primarily because while not hot inside it was very stuffy and my toddler suffered a pretty tough asthma attack inside and we had to leave pretty abruptly as I had left his inhaler in the car. We did purchase a few cute postcards, a rubber band gun for our nephew (the eldest of the three kids) and stop for a few photo ops with the kitties before then. Sadly, we didn't get to taste the ice cream or feed the goats (to my daughters dismay) but we will likely make another stop back through the next time these "Goats-on-the-roof" cross our path. ;)
The goats are cute, the liquid nitrogen ice cream is good but expensive. They have some unique jellies and gifts.
What can you say - gotta stop and see the goats - they are really cute and they know it - they know how to get fed. I was hoping for lunch but alas it appears to be ice cream and gift shop. Spent about 15 minutes and moved on.
