“People Powered Adventures”
The River in Traverse City is the first of it’s kind on the property that used to be the Zoo at Clinch Park/Marina in downtown Traverse City on gorgeous West Bay. The only concession left from the old zoo is the steam engine that has become one of the biggest family attractions in all of Northern Michigan. The River boasts a fleet of Jackson and Ocean Kayaks as well as Old Town Canoes, Paddlebuoy stand up boards, and a gaggle of commercial tubes for floats on The Boardman River and West Bay. In addition, 15 speed hybrid and beachcruiser bicycles are available for rentals. And finally, the Clinch Cafe specializing in classic burgers, brats and home made veggie burgers for our leaf eating friends as well as salads and the best Ice Cream in the State of Michigan. The River was founded by Mike and Becky Sutherland originally at their flagship business in Glen Arbor in the Spring of 2005. The River in Traverse City was annexed the summer of 2010 and is thriving as the only kayak, canoe and tube livery in Traverse City. The Sutherlands welcome you to come on down to Clinch Park and make some memories.
