What started as the Comstock House in 1863 by Henry Comstock in 1965 was taken over by the "proto-hippies" with there long hair, boots and outrageous clothing of distinctly American and Native American heritage. Today the Red Dog Saloon is one of the best places to spend time in Northern Nevada. Featuring Open Mic Wednesday evenings at 7:30 and live performances on the weekends. Enjoy the locals favorite bite to eat at the Dog, while enjoying your stay in Virginia City.
