“A family tradition since 1924!”
Smith's Restaurant and Bakery roots began as the North Creek Bakery in 1924 by Frank Smith and his aunt Kate Casey. In 1926 Frank married Anna Seibold, a young German immigrant, and with the help of Anna's sister, Theresia, established the restaurant portion of the operation. For decades, Smith's Restaurant and Bakery became a local favorite for river drivers, railroaders, miners, and skiers, as well as a stopping point for hungry and weary travelers coming to the mountains for their Adirondack Adventures. Upon Anna's death in 1985, the restaurant passed on to her son Francis, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. Chef Fran along with his sister Joanne expanded the kitchen and added a southern German atmosphere to the dining room. They continued to operate the restaurant specializing in German Cuisine until their retirement in 2008.In the fall of 2008, Andie Waldron, daughter of Theresia, and husband Will, returned to their hometown of North Creek. Along with their daughters, Alyx and Hillary, have taken over operation of the restaurant under it's new name, ANDIE'S RESTAURANT at Smith's.The Waldron's are excited to be home and to be bringing back some of Anna and Frank Smith's favorite menu items from the past, and continuing with Schwabisch German specialties, expanded seafood menu as well as today's American family favorites."It is our goal to offer hometown Adirondack hospitality to the families of the local residents as well as our vacationing tourists and visitors." When the Adirondack guides Brought their sports out of the woods...When the river drivers brought their logs Through the Hudson River Gorge...When prohibition rum runners Stopped for a break on their way to New York...When the first ski trains pulled into North Creek.
