Confirmed by 9 users | Last reported on April 05, 2024Burro Creek is a nice BLM campground on 93 South between Las Vegas and Phoenix. With our America the Beautiful pass the rate is $7/night so that was a bonus. The setting was beautiful by the creek which actually had quite a bit of water and the natural landscaping was lush. It was also very quiet with no road noise. There are some things to know before you go. Burro Creek Campground Rd. meets AZ 93 TWICE, take the entrance on the SOUTH side of the bridge or you will end up on a dirt road on the wrong side of the creek. The correct road is an 8% grade going down to the creek and there are no guardrails. The road inside the campground was narrow with tight turns so it is not big rig friendly. Many of the sites were too short and narrow for our truck and trailer but if you're tenting it's perfect. There are some pull through sites which we took. The sites were fairly level however. We had NO internet or cell service with Verizon and even after leaving had no service along AZ93 for several miles, it is very remote. The water at the dump station was off for the season so we were unable to flush our black tank or even rinse the area after we got done. We would stay here again even with these limitations.

We loved it here, the campground is very quiet and located above the creek which has water depending on the time of year. On the cliffs across the creek Great Blue Herons were nesting and we were able to observe them with binoculars. Also the last few days a herd of Big Horn Sheep was grazing over there as well.
Clean flush toilets, water throughout the campground and a dump station make it a very nice place to stay.
If you go back up out of the canyon there is a cell tower to the NW. We were able to get a Verizon 4G signal. Nothing at all in the canyon.

Beautiful scenery, view of the bridge going over the creek. The campground is located down near the creek. There is a trail that goes to it but we didn't take it. No hookups but there is water fill and a dump station. Clean bathrooms throughout. Dirt site with covered picnic table. Quiet, clean. We will definitely come back. We stayed here in a 33ft rig one night in a back-in site, #6.

After spending a miserable night at the camp spot off signal Road 5 miles from here we decided to move to Burro Creek Recreation Area. There are about 30 spaces and we are the only ones here. It's paved to the campground with an 8% downhill grade on a paved Road. The roads through the park is a little rough and a bit narrow that had no real problems. We are currently the only ones here and there is water in Burro Creek and think this may be one of the nicest places we've Boondock. They have potable water and a dump station.

A very good find hidden right off the highway. Carp fishing in the creek. Plenty of space to explore. Tons of cow pies to watch out for.

I have to say this place is a hidden gem. Beautiful scenery, Blue Heons were nesting on cliffs across river. I put up a hummingbird feeder while we were there. We hiked down to river one day it is very rocking but worth the hike. There is no power but there is very clean restrooms, potable water stations and a dump station. They were full each night. It is a must stop if your in the area. Randy the park host is the friendliest host you will ever meet.

We would definitely stay here again. This is the cutest little campground best wilderness camping we have found in AZ. The price we paid reflects the senior discount rate from America the beautiful pass. This campground is down in a canyon so no cell signal but great reception with dish. Ever campsite has fire ring & covered picnic table. They have a dump & fresh water fill with flushable toilets. Camphost is great. Just remind your family you are going to somewhere with no signal, our children put out a silver alert on us. Lol

This is a sweet CG. Day use is free. Dump and water free with stay otherwise $10. Nice covered tables. Hiked down the river with water shoes for over a mile, saw 4 herons and very small fish. Burro Creek running deeper, faster and clear (according to two locals who lived in Wickieup). Some nice deep areas to take a dip and did just that. This is probably due to the wet winter. Our site overlooked the river. Walking up to the freeway either way is over a mile. Quiet and great night sky.

New place and love it! Very pretty scenery and small campground. Host (Gordon) was super cool & make recommendations for day trips on our Harleys. We heard wild Burros hee-hawing but it was not annoying- just fun! Creek had pretty large catfish we could see from the river bank and bridge. There is a tiny bit of noise from the I-40 but it wasn't really anything worth mentioning. Each site has a ramada and picnic table with fire ring. Definitely coming back to this gem!

Was passing thru but I am glad I stayed, and next time will plan to stay longer. Gordon is the current host, and he's awesome. Ask him about the geology in the area. No hookups, but there is a dump station, and lots of trash cans throughout. There is a trail on the very eastern side of the CG (you can see it in Google Earth) that also goes down to the creek. I got my 24 footer into spot 4, which is up on a hill. It was pretty level, and well spaced from other sites. Gordon says there's fish in the creek, and I did see some, but didn't have a chance to throw a line in. My Verizon and Sprint hot spots were worthless, but Gordon says T Mobile (if I remember that right) works.
