“it's time to plan a visit”
During summer 2011, Kaibab Lake Campground underwent a major renovation. Improvements to the campground included new pavement, new parking spurs, new campsite amenities such as fire rings and picnic tables, more day-use parking for improved fishing access, improved ramadas, additional small-group capacity, a re-designed overnight group camping area, and a new camping loop with an additional 11 campsites. The entrance road to the campground was also improved. So, if you haven't been to Kaibab Lake Campground recently, it's time to plan a visit! Kaibab Lake is a pleasant place to spend a few hours or a few days. It is located just a couple of miles outside the town of Williams in the Williams Ranger District. The lake is a popular spot for fishing. The area around the campground offers sightseeing as well. The Grand Canyon is just 60 miles away. In addition, a number of forest attractions are easily accessible from the campground, including the Spring Valley and Historic Route 66 scenic drives. 63 campsites with tables and fire rings, 61 single family, 2 double family sites. 6 campsites are wheelchair accessible. One large group area with ramada and picnic tables, 2 grills, and 14 individual family sites. One small group area with ramada and picnic tables and two individual family sites. Tents, trailers, and motorhomes up to 35 feet can be accommodated, but no utility hookups are available. Composting toilets and Pit toilets, garbage bins, and recycle collection bins. Potable water, hydrants located throughout the campground. Filling water tanks in motorhomes and RV's not allowed due to limted supply. Potable water supply for drinking water only. Small boat ramp, wheelchair accessible fishing pier. Sewage dump station available. Amphitheater and occasional weekend daytime and evening interpretive programs. Campground hosts on-site available to assist you. Reservations can be made for GROUP SITES ONLY

I'm surprised this is the first reveiw for this campground. We've camped here a few times over the years and have always felt it was one of the better places to camp in Northern AZ.
This campground is right off I-40 and has easy access for the big rigs. There are double sites that allow for the big rigs and other campers to join you. We were in spot 74 which was a double site and had room for our 40ft rig and enough room for friends 24ft pop up to join us with still room to spare. There are several of the double sites if you want room to spread out.
Reservations can be made online but there are also first come first serve sites.
There is a loop of campsites that is near the lake and other loops that back to the forest. Our spot backed to the forest and we even saw elk wonder by one night. The small lake is great for fishing and kayaking.
The campground is kept very clean considering the campsite turnover. The hosts were friendly; they reminded me one night that we had too many vehicles in our site and recommended moving one to the visitor parking to avoid extra charges. The host also sells firewood and ice.
The town of Williams is only about 10mins from the C/G and has plenty to offer the family. We visited Bearizona drive through Zoo, visited the Grand Canyon (about 50miles away), and enjoyed the small Route 66 town. There is also a Safeway in town to resupply.
Overall, a great place to enjoy the cool weather with plenty to do.

Great campground where you can be close to the lake. They have single and double sites, single are $29/night, doubles are $40/night. We were in a back-in spot, loop A, site 28. Love waking up and seeing the lake. Across from us, site 29 is a pull-through site, which is nice. Next to us, site 6 and site 7 are both double sites with even slightly better views of the lake. The lake is smaller, but still nice to kayak/canoe and plenty of fish.
All sites are paved, and in much better condition than some others in the area. There's a large boat ramp and fishing spots. You could walk around the lake on a small path, which is nice. There are fire pits with a grill plate and cement picnic tables. The sites are spacious, you aren't too close to neighbors, so you have a lot of room. It's pretty quiet with pines shading your site. There are many pit toilet bathrooms that were kept clean.
You can make reservations or have a first come/first serve. It was really cold this weekend, got down to the mid 20's last night, and 55 in the day. It's a short 5-6 minute drive to Williams, you never have to get on the freeway. if you like the nightlife, stop by the Best Western to see Omar sing with his guitar. There are also a couple of great restaurants and breweries in the area. Historic Brewing is always awesome, fantastic food along with fantastic beer!

We enjoyed our quiet stay at this campground. Bathrooms were immaculate. Camp grounds were well maintained. No trash laying around. Quietest Park in the Williams area. I would camp here every time over the campgrounds in town.

Wish we could have stayed here more then one night. The people there working were incredibly sweet and helpful! The site we had was large, spacious, not too close other sites and beautiful! Was a gem of a find and the town near there was adorable!

Loved this camp ground! I definitely wouldn’t stay at space 69 again (right across from bathroom) but do like space 45 - 47, 62 - 68, 71 and a few others. Camp hosts were super laid back and easy to work with. I’ve been to other campgrounds where the hosts were a little strict but they were way cool here! Wood for sale and ice for sale at campsite. Water to fill up jugs (not really camper). Each site has cement table and ground fire pit with grill top. Some sites have more shade then others so bring a canopy...we used ours daily! It is 5 min from Bearizona so we took our 5 and 6 year old girls there one day which made the trip fun and Historic Downtown Williams is about 10 min away for some old school diners, cool restaurants and breweries and a Safeway if you need any last minute items. The lake was awesome and an easy walk even from the furthest loop. My husband caught a huge bass one day so that was fun! Plenty of people kayaking too (that will be the next hobby for sure)! Definitely recommend this campground and can’t wait to go back!

This is a great campground. We came here with our boys when they were younger, and now that they are grown, we camp as a couple. Things that have changed since we last visited are the fact reservations are required and a few walk up sites are available. There are positives to the campground, too! More care is given to the bathrooms, campsites are much nicer with a gravel area for tents and concrete parking area. ( not sure if this applies to all sites) and the overall way it’s run by camp hosts. We had terrible cell service (Verizon) and if you were lucky you might get a signal in the morning. Plenty of shade, a beautiful trail to walk around the lake, and an abundance of wildlife. Very nice place

I live in nearby Sedona and love to come to this campground to beat the heat. It has great Ponderosa Pines with paved mostly level sites. I have a 25 foot class C, and this campground seems to fit all types of big and small rigs easily along with their toads. Many use this as a base camp for visiting Grand Canyon. It is safe enough to leave your stuff behind in your site as you visit the GC. You can fish on the lake. I've seen a herd of Elk near my campsite. No hook ups or dump station. You will need to bring plenty of fresh water in your tank. Vault toilets. They have good Ranger talks and activities on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays. You can hear the train whistle at night, and there is some highway noise. I usually found it more comforting than annoying.
