St. Simons Island, GA

Located on St. Simons Island, Fort Frederica National Monument is packed with rich history and full of mesmerizing sights. The former fort played a significant role in the Colonial era during a battle between British and Spanish in the early 1700s. The British emerged victorious, ensuring that Britain's colony would remain in the area for decades to come. It was declared a national monument in 1936 under President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Be sure to visit in the afternoon, when they frequently have a can't-miss cannon firing ceremony.

Massengale Park

An incredibly relaxing and scenic slice of the Golden Isles, Massengale Park is just a stone’s throw away from the beautiful St. Simons Island beach. With dozens of tree-shaded picnic tables, BBQ grills, and a playground for the little ones, it's a great way to spend the entire afternoon with the family. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even rent some bikes to take in all of the lush scenery.

Specializing in "delicious, made-from-scratch homestyle cooking," it has a wide variety of food options... but it's the seafood that's to die for. Whether you're looking to try world famous crab cakes, or just want to take in the restaurant's fun and friendly atmosphere, you won't go wrong with anything.
