For a more calming moment in nature, stop by the Harrisburg Covered Bridge. This bridge has stood here since the mid-1800s, when this was a main road for those traveling to and from the former town of Harrisburg. The first was washed away in an 1875 flood, and the current one was built shortly after as a replacement. Like many small towns, the development of major county roads that bypassed Harrisburg ultimately led to its demise as a major destination, but the bridge still stands strong over a century later. It's been fixed up twice, once in the 1950s and again in the 70s, and today, Sevier County actively maintains the historic structure. It's a rare example of an authentic timber truss bridge, and an incredibly scenic one at that.

Forbidden Caverns

Once used as a shelter for Indians during hunting trips, the Forbidden Caverns is now one of the most famous show caves in Tennessee. See stunning sparkling formations, natural chimneys, secluded grottos, and a crystal-clear spring-fed stream throughout your tour. Included in the 45-60 minute guided tour are a breathtaking light show and tons of fascinating historical information about the caves; you'll even get to learn about the moonshiners who brewed illegal hooch here during and after Prohibition.
