embrace your senses

When you open the door to the Brown Butter Cookie Company, the scent of brown butter embraces your senses. A cookie sample is hard to resist and you can see our dedicated family of cookie makers meticulously hand-rolling each cookie. One taste of this delicious sweet and salty treat and you'll see how our humble cookie factory in the beach town of Cayucos, California made a name for itself nationwide. Traci and I are sisters working together and loving what we do every day. In December 2008, we launched our website for our Original Brown Butter Sea Salt Cookie. In January 2009, we closed our small specialty food store so we could focus primarily on cookie making. We started the year with a new name and the Brown Butter Cookie Company was born. Visitors to our shop are welcomed with the scent of freshly baked cookies and samples right off the baking tray. Come and smell the butter browning, and watch our team of dough makers, bakers, and cookie rollers hand-roll each Brown Butter Sea Salt Cookie. Our team feels like a family and when you visit you'll find us smiling and sharing stories around the cookie table.

Some of you older folks will remember the many roadside attractions that used to dot the American landscape...and, if you remember those, you know that the vast majority of them were all hype without giving the promised reward. That is exactly how I felt after going to the Brown Butter Cookie Company. Their signature cookies are nothing special and, frankly, quite dry. If you keep yourself from being sucked into the hype and realize each of these TINY cookies is over a dollar a piece, you'll run away at top speed to one of the town's other better and more cost-effective options for fresh-made sweets. I guess if this is your type of thing, it's your decision. I just think your money would be better spent on seeing Chuckie the Basketball-Playing Chicken somewhere rather than greatly overpaying for cookies that just aren't that special.

Awesome cookies. Their signature cookie is their best one, and since they are expensive that is what I recommend buying.

The cookies here are amazing and melt in your mouth, especially the almond. Make sure your packing some extra cash though cause they are on the pricy side!
