Silver Falls State Park

10 waterfalls, each unique and great, in a 7 mile hiking loop. We've done the trail once and visited groups of falls several times. In Summer they will open pools beneath certain falls for swimming, so bring your suit.

Non-stop ahhhs! Most beautiful place, especially in the rain, the falls were fuller and flowing heavy. If your ever in the area you have to enjoy this place, don't just pass by. Cabin was perfect for price and park officials very courteous

I'd recommend spending at least a couple days here. There are so many hikes and you can camp in the park too. A lot of the trails are gravel and they have hand rails. The fee to get in is only $5. If you decide to go on the weekends be prepared for lots of crowds. This is a very popular park, especially the Trail of Ten.

There's also a swimming area and playground for your littles.

Beautiful park and wonderful hiking. When I lived in Oregon, this was always near the top of the list of places to bring out of state guests. Even if you don't do the whole hiking loop, going a mile or so brings you to several falls and through some lovely forest. Be sure to bring a camera.

We only had time to go to one of the many waterfalls at this park, but it was STUNNING (the one we saw was the only one we were told that you could actually walk behind :D). If we are EVER in Portland, OR again - this will be on our list to visit again and see all the falls. :D It is for sure a must-see if you are in the area!

Silver Falls has a fabulous hike that takes you through/under/behind/past 10 waterfalls. It's gorgeous.

We visited in early Fall, so the waterfalls were not at their peak velocity, but it was still worth the 9 mile hike with our 3 young kids. Campground was beautiful - the sites were not overly large but not cramped. We felt we had plenty of space. Showers were decent, the little playground was a hit with the kids as well as all the paths weaving through the bushes. They made plenty of secret forts! Only complaint was no Verizon in the campground. Sam had to drive 1.5 miles down the road and park at an overlook to get signal from Silverton (which he thinks he *might* have been able to pull in with a directional antenna). Doable, but not amazing. Everything else was perfect!

Silver Falls is known for the waterfall with a trail that leads behind it. There are 10 falls within the 9 mile hiking loop and a host of amenities for camping. They have two large 'ranch houses' that can sleep 50 people as well as the wonderfully kept campground for RVs, tents, yurts or cabins.

We rate Silver Falls with 5 Stars because of the long list of amenities and activities and the overall care/attention to keep it in top shape. There is a popular swimming hole, historic lodge with restaurant, kids exploration zone, hiking, biking, equestrian trails, fishing, etc. etc.

We visited in the Spring so our site had some mud. It was a spacious and private site with hummingbirds, white crowned sparrows, robins and blue jays fluttering about. We had neighbors on one size that were visible however there was enough of a barrier that it still felt private.

We rolled into Silver Falls, looking for refuge from a relentless winter storm on the coast. Our site, B20, took a little wiggling to get into as it was perpendicular to the road. But once settled, we appreciated the intimacy of the site.

As a side note, another Airstream blogger, the Small Small Trailer, was parked next to us, leading to a delightful conversation on chronicling adventures.

The showers and bathrooms were spotless and there was plenty of hot water to go around. A slight bummer was that the dump station was several miles away along a winding road. But that minor inconvenience was well worth what the park offers.

Silver Falls will blow your mind if you like water falls. Unfortunately, we travel with our 'fur kids' and they are not allowed on the Canyon Trail, so we were not able to enjoy them fully. We did take them on the Rim Trail, though, and that was enough to be amazed.

The park has an historic lodge (with free wifi for those camping) that has an excellent coffee bar. To enjoy a latte next to a roaring fire- well it does not get much better.

We would have stayed longer, but that darn coastal storm was coming in with snow on the forecast. Had it not been for that, we would have stayed a good long time. It was that amazing.

My family (late 30's parents, elementary aged kids) lives 45 mins from Silver Falls so we've been five or six times for hikes. This was our first time camping (RV) at the park. Campgrounds were perfectly sized, properly spaced apart and well equipped. I was surprised to find very cozy/heated restrooms (including clean showers). Fantastic park for kids and incredible hikes for adults/families. I highly recommend this park.
