“The last of the curios!”

"Last of the original Route 66 curio shops in New Mexico, don't miss it!

Tucumcari is a small town in northeastern New Mexico, United States of America. It is located along Interstate 40 and is the first town of significance in New Mexico if driving west from Texas along that route. The town is a highlight for those following the former Route 66, as it contains a large amount of Route 66-era neon and colorful signs.

Stopped in a few weeks ago and both owners made a point to chat with me. They're trying hard to keep this Route 66 icon thriving so stop, take a picture, and BUY SOMETHING! Support your RT66 icons!

Just left this cute gift shop. The owner greeted us and was very friendly. Lots of fun stuff to look at. The town around it looks very run down with so many places closed up. I hope their little shop survives. The kids bought some stone animal carvings. I got a ghostbead necklace, a blanket, and a totem energy stone. The prices were a lot cheaper than I expected. Definitely stop here if you have the chance!

They were touching up the paint on the place when we stopped by, but the owner was friendly. At least stop in and send home a post card!

I had to pee so badly when we stopped and the lovely older man working let me use the toilet. We bought a small tee pee ornament and a Sinclair oil sign because I'm obsessed with Sinclair. They had an awesome variety of items. The entire town is really cute, definitely worth a stop.

One of the last stops on Route 66, and one of the best!
I stopped in for a quick look around and ended up buying the cutest teepee ornament- ended up being one of my favorite mementos from this trip!
Be sure to stop in and say hi. The owners are so nice.

This is a really cute shop with reasonably priced stuff. Cool metal signs, plenty of Route 66 themed items, and beautiful jewelry! The owners are very friendly! Make sure to pet their dog Kevin- he is so adorable!
