Where to fly into

The cheapest airport reasonably close to Arches is Salt Lake City. You'll get to enjoy a beautiful three and a half hour drive from northern Utah. If you'd prefer a much closer—but just as picturesque—drive, you could fly into Moab's Canyonlands Field, which offers round trip travel from Denver International Airport.

Visitor center

Like most national parks, Arches is open 24/7, but the visitor center is only open between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Stop by the visitor center to chat with the park rangers. They’ll be happy to help you plan out your visit to the park. Be sure to ask about the Ranger Programs happening while you’re visiting the park. The visitor center is also a great place to fill up your water bottles—don’t find yourself out on the trails without water.

Must-sees at Arches National Park

So many arches to see, so little time. Here are our favorite things to do when visiting Arches National Park.

Arches National Park stargazing

Did you know that Arches National Park is a stargazing hot spot? For the easiest stargazing experience, keep an eye on the lunar calendar to try to avoid too much light from the moon, and give your eyes about 30 minutes to adjust to the night sky. There are four designated stargazing areas in Arches National Park where you’ll find minimal artificial lights:

  • Balanced Rock Picnic Area
  • The Windows Section
  • Garden of Eden Viewpoint
  • Panorama Point

Whether you’re looking at the night sky with an expensive telescope or just laying down on a blanket and staring deep into space, make time to get a glimpse of the cosmos while you’re visiting Arches National Park.

Canyonlands National Park

Why visit just one park when you can visit two? You’ll find a whole different set of stunning vistas at Canyonlands National Park, only about 40 minutes from Moab.
