One of the best things about RVing is the ability to head south when the weather turns cold. The winter months become much more tolerable when you’re parked next to the beach or in the desert. If you’ve decided to become an RV snowbird, there are a few things to keep in mind before you hook up and head out.
Start by deciding what you’re looking for in an RV park. Do you want a community-focused resort with plenty of activities and amenities? Or do you picture spending months in a quiet park away from busy cities? If you’re retired, do you prefer a park that caters to the 55-plus crowd, or are you looking for a place that welcomes all ages?
Once you’ve narrowed down your preferred type of RV park, book reservations well in advance. And be sure to ask the campground about long-term rates. Many RV parks that serve snowbirds will offer monthly or seasonal rates for longer stays.
Now that you know what you’re looking for, where exactly should you go? Here are some fantastic places across the U.S. (with campground recommendations) to park your rig for the winter.

Warm winter weather and a scenic desert landscape make Arizona a popular choice for snowbirds. Tucson is Arizona’s second largest city and offers plenty of things to do in the winter.
