Video: How to save on fuel in your RV

Here are a few tips for saving money at the pump and reducing fuel costs for your RV this road trip season

Don’t let fuel prices put a damper on your RV travel this year. Whether you’re driving a diesel pusher, towing with an SUV, or cruising in a campervan, there are several ways you can help reduce your fuel costs and find the best gas station deals while out on the open road.

Here are a few tips for saving money at the pump and reducing fuel costs this road trip season:

Fuel savings programs. Save money at major gas stations by signing up for programs like Open Roads and Good Sam. Or, use a grocery store membership like Costco or Sam’s Club to fill up for less at stores across the U.S.

Download fuel apps. Track gas prices with fuel apps like Gas Buddy and Gas Guru, so you can find the cheapest fuel, no matter where you’re traveling.

RV maintenance. Did you know that having proper tire inflation can help with fuel efficiency? Minor maintenance checks can not only help increase the longevity of your rig, but they can help you reduce your fuel needs as well.

Toll passes and travel tags. To avoid added stops that reduce your fuel efficiency, look for toll road passes and other travel tags that can help keep your rig moving without unwanted pay booth stops.
