Drink a beer and spend the night at these 8 brewery hotels across the U.S.

Nothing tastes as good after a long day of driving as a cold drink. Breweries have been popping up in interesting places across the U.S. for years—you can find them in old churches, on the beach, in abandoned warehouses, and in hotels.

Not only can you sample local beers that you can’t find at home, but many breweries provide delicious meals and unique history as well. Plus, you might meet other travelers who are just as passionate about craft beer as you are at these eight brewery hotels.

1. Fitger’s Brewhouse

Spend a night in a brewery hotel that has been in operation for more than 100 years. Located in Duluth, Minnesota, Fitger’s Brewhouse first opened in 1857. After a short hiatus in the 1970s, the brewery complex reopened in 1984, complete with several hotel rooms and new dining options. Visitors to the property can take a self-guided tour, walk along the shores of Lake Superior, and indulge in the on-site spa.

2. 42 North Brewing Company 

When you spend a night at the Lofts at 42 North in East Aurora, New York, you can look into both the brewing floor and the beer garden right from your room—while enjoying complimentary beer from the mini-fridge. Although the brewery was established in 2015, the entire brew campus feels like a piece of East Aurora history. During your visit, make sure to head downstairs to enjoy drinks in the taproom along with a barbecue meal from Fat Bob’s Smokehouse. If you’re lucky, you can listen to live music or chat with the bartenders to learn more about the brewery’s history.

3. Woodstock Inn Brewery

At Woodstock Inn, one of New Hampshire’s oldest breweries, you can choose from more than 40 different rooms and suites to make the most of your visit. Several buildings are scattered around the brewery campus, each with its own unique style. Stay in a rustic, mountain-inspired house, a modern suite, or a cozy room with all the charm that New England has to offer. Inside the main building, you’ll find four different pubs featuring delicious food and beer brewed on-site. Brewery tours are offered every day at 12 p.m.

4. Rusty Rail Brewing Company 

The suites at Rusty Rail Brewing Company in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, are as inviting as the beer is flavorful. The crew at this brewery pours their hearts into every aspect of the company. Guests can pamper themselves in spacious, Southwestern-inspired suites and enjoy an incredible meal at the restaurant. As for the beer, Rusty Rail crafts some creative flavors, including a peanut butter hefeweizen and an agave lime India Pale Ale. Plus, the brewery complex has a great event space perfect for a wedding between two craft beer lovers.

5. Blowing Rock Ale House & Inn 

Take a trip to the mountains in North Carolina near the Tennessee border and spend a weekend at Blowing Rock Ale House & Inn. The combined microbrewery, restaurant, and inn features locally-sourced meals made with Blowing Rock’s craft beer. Guests at the inn can choose from one of five rooms with beer-related names: Amber, Hops, Pint, Stout, or Wheat. A variety of beers can be enjoyed both with dinner and at the bar.

6. Fredericksburg Brewing Company

Just a few months after Texas legalized brewpubs, Fredericksburg Brewing Company opened its doors, making it the oldest brewpub in the state. Located in a building from the late 1800s, each of the 12 guest rooms features a different theme and charm. Guests receive a free pint for each night they stay in one of the “bed and brew” rooms. But great beer isn’t all the brewery is known for; Fredericksburg’s restaurant also makes some incredible food, and you can enjoy a meal in the Biergarten outside.

7. The Source Hotel and Market Hall

It comes as no surprise that one of the largest beer cities in the U.S. is also home to a well-regarded brewery hotel. The Source Hotel in Denver, Colorado, is more than just a brewery and 100 beautifully-designed guest rooms. You’ll also find a handful of retail shops and a food market featuring award-winning dishes. When you stay in the hotel, you wake up to a view of the Rocky Mountains from your bed. Spend your day shopping in the market hall before finishing your night at the rooftop bar with a pint of New Belgium beer brewed on-site.

8. Elks Temple

Elks Temple is just one of 24 McMenamins locations across the Pacific Northwest, but this one stands out from the rest. Located in a century-old Renaissance Revival temple, the Tacoma, Washington, location has seven floors of restaurants and accommodations. The temple provides enough food, music, and events to fill an entire vacation. Starting with the brewery on the first floor, numerous other themed bars populate the building until you reach the guest rooms on the sixth floor. And at the very top you can enjoy some of the best views of Puget Sound.
